Titans Rank Fifth At Brooks Invitational

Nate Stymiest (So. • Oconto Falls) was UW-Oshkosh's top individual finisher as the Titans placed fifth among 35 teams at the Brooks Invitational held Saturday (Oct. 17) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.

Stymiest, who finished 36th in last year's race, completed this year's 8,000-meter course in a 22nd-place time of 24:54. A total of 551 runners crossed the finish line, including 20 from UW-Oshkosh.

Dan Greeno of Bethel University (Minn.) won this year's race with a time of 24:15. North Central College (Ill.) swept the next three places as Michael Spain finished second in 24:24, Nathaniel Hird third in 24:25 and Kyle Brady fourth in 24:28. Chris Zook of Augustana College placed fifth in 24:31.

UW-Oshkosh, ranked 15th in the NCAA Division III by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, scored 168 points for its fifth-place finish. Top-ranked North Central College captured the team title with 22 points, while sixth-ranked UW-Stevens Point placed second with 97, ninth-ranked Augustana College (Ill.) third with 151 and 16th-ranked Calvin College (Mich.) fourth with 158. North Central College was the meet's defending champion.

Completing the list of top 10 teams were sixth-place UW-Whitewater with 186 points, seventh-place Washington University (Mo.) with 199, eighth-place Grinnell College (Iowa) with 223, ninth-place Oivet Nazarene University (Ill.) with 270 and 10th-place University of Chicago (Ill.) with 272.

In addition to Stymiest, UW-Oshkosh received team scoring from Mike Jarchow (So. • Oshkosh), Josh Hoff (Sr. • Boyceville), John Dewitt (Fr. • Oshkosh) and Jonathan Wylie (Fr. • Oshkosh). Jarchow finished 30th with a time of 25:07, while Hoff placed 36th in 25:11, Dewitt 54th in 25:24 and Wylie 58th in 25:28.

Other UW-Oshkosh runners in the top 150 were Dusty Dorshorst (Sr. • Poynette), Ben Wizner (Sr. • Onalaska), Andrew Vos (Jr. • Fort Atkinson) and William Koepp (Jr. • Lake Nebagamon). Dorshorst finished 65th with a time of 25:31, while Wizner placed 80th in 25:41, Vos 113th in 25:58 and Koepp 144th in 26:14.

The Titans also had Justin Darrow (Sr. • Sobieski) finish 156th in 26:19, Grant O'Connell (Jr. • Appleton) 166th in 26:24, Mark Allen (Fr. • Port Washington) 183rd in 26:30, Jordan King (Fr. • Stevens Point) 188th in 26:31, Jeff Baudry (Sr. • Oakfield) 244th in 26:56, Brian Peterson (So • Toluca, Ill.) 251st in 27:02, Brett DeNure (Fr. • Monroe) 271st in 27:10, Tim Schraufnagel (Fr. • Neenah) 309th in 27:28, Nick Newcomer (So. • Winnebago, Ill.) 327th in 27:35, Dan Rammer (Fr. • Appleton) 455th in 29:11 and Phil Devine (So. • Winnebago, Ill.) 490th in 29:51.
