Warhawks Put The Clamps On The Titans

UW-Whitewater won seven contests in convincing fashion as it rolled to a 9-0 victory over the UW-Oshkosh men's tennis team on Friday (April 22) at the Kolf Sports Center outdoor courts.

The Warhawks (19-6) swept through the doubles competition with victories of 8-0 by Matt Bisbee and Matt Zurowski in the third flight, 8-1 by Scott Butler and Michael Schnarr in the first and 8-2 by Rory Calabria and Jimmy Engelhart in the third.

Bisbee and Zurowski defeated Jordan Andersen and Logan Zastrow, while Butler and Schnarr ousted Vincent Gorski and Ryan Kuzmanovic. Calabria and Engelhart posted their win over Adam Hawley and Adam Martin.

Gorski and Kuzmanovic gave UW-Oshkosh (6-9) very competitive results in singles play. Gorski lost a 6-4, 5-7 (15-13) decision to Bisbee in the first flight, while Kuzmanovic suffered a 6-7 (5), 6-1 (10-7) setback to Schnarr in the second.

UW-Whitewater won its remaining singles contests by a combined 48-7 score, including 6-0, 6-1 victories by Zurowski over Martin in the fourth flight and Engelhart over Austin Laumb in the sixth.

The Warhawks completed their list of individual winners with Butler in the third flight and Calabria in the fifth. Butler defeated Hawley, 6-2, 6-0, while Calabria ousted Zastrow, 6-0, 6-1.

UW-Oshkosh hosts UW-Eau Claire and UW-La Crosse in its final home matches of the season on Saturday (April 23) at the Kolf Sports Center outdoor courts.
