Titans Defeat Eagles For Fourth Straight Win

UW-Oshkosh extended its winning streak in men's tennis to four matches with a 6-3 victory over Edgewood College on Sunday (March 6) at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.

The Titans (4-5) took a 2-1 lead after the doubles competition and secured the triumph by winning four of the six singles contests.

Adam Martin was UW-Oshkosh's highest individual winner. He captured the No. 3 singles match with a hard-fought 6-7 (6), 6-0 (12-10) victory over Evan Stone.

Adam Hawley gave the Titans a win at No. 4 singles with his 6-4, 6-1 victory over Jaime Benavides.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining individual wins belonged to Logan Zastrow in the fifth flight and Jordan Andersen in the sixth. Zastrow defeated Andrew Martinez, 6-2, 6-3, while Andersen ousted Alex Hadjiev, 7-5, 6-4.

In doubles play, UW-Oshkosh received victories from Vincent Gorski and Ryan Kuzmanovic in the first flight and David Leffler and William O'Connell in the third. Gorski and Kuzmanovic took an 8-4 decision from Brian Davenport and Austin Papenthien, while Leffler and O'Connell grabbed an 8-1 result from Hadjiev and Martinez.

Edgewood College (1-5) swept the top two individual flights with wins from Papenthien in the first and Davenport in the second. Papenthien defeated Gorski, 6-2, 7-6 (3), while Davenport outlasted Kuzmanovic, 6-2, 3-6 (10-8).

The Eagles took the No. 2 doubles contest as Benavides and Stone edged Hawley and Martin, 9-7.

UW-Oshkosh returns to the court next Sunday (March 13) with a 9 a.m. match in Madison against Augustana College (Ill.) and a 4 p.m. contest in Kenosha against Carthage College.
