Titans Swept By Little Giants, Foresters

Jordan Andersen was UW-Oshkosh's lone individual winner during the Titans' matches with the Wabash College (Ind.) and Lake Forest College (Ill.) men's tennis teams on Saturday (Feb. 13) in Lake Bluff, Ill.

UW-Oshkosh (0-4) lost its opening contest by a 7-1 score to Wabash College (4-2).

Adam Hawley and Adam Martin earned the only team point for the Titans with their 8-6 victory over Mazin Hakim and Kirill Ivashchenko at No. 2 doubles.

Wabash College took the remaining two doubles contests on wins by Michael Makio and William Reifes in the first flight and George Go III and Jordan Greenwell in the third. Makio and Reifes defeated Vincent Gorski and Ryan Kuzmanovic, 8-5, while Go III and Greenwell ousted Andersen and David Leffler, 8-3.

The Little Giants captured three of the five singles matches in straight sets, including Makio's 6-3, 6-1 victory over Gorski in the first flight and Reifes' 6-2, 6-2 win over Martin in the second. Greenwell won by a 6-0, 6-2 result over Hawley in the third flight.

Leffler and Logan Zastrow both lost singles matches for the Titans on a tiebreaker. Leffler suffered a 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6) loss to Hakin in the sixth flight, while Zastrow dropped a 6-0, 5-7, 1-0 (10-1) decision to Nicholas Pollock in the fifth.

A match at No. 4 singles between UW-Oshkosh's Kuzmanovic and Wabash College's Ivashchenko went unfinished. 

UW-Oshkosh followed its loss to Wabash College with a 7-2 setback to Lake Forest College (1-2).

Andersen supplied half of the Titans' team points with his 5-7, 6-0, 1-0 (10-6) victory over Joe Bove at No. 6 singles.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining team point came at No. 3 doubles, where William O'Connell and Logan Zastrow defeated Jordan Stoler and Dragan Trivanovic, 8-6.

Lake Forest College took the top two doubles contests with wins from Ellis Lora-Arceo and Dan Pivonka in the first flight and Trevor Allen and Karl Fehn in the second. Lora-Arceo and Pivonka beat Gorski and Kuzmanovic, 8-5, while Allen and Fehn outscored Hawley and Martin, 8-4.

In singles play, Lake Forest College received a pair of 6-1, 6-0 wins from Pivonka over Gorski in the first flight and Allen over Hawley in the second.

Also winning in straight sets for the Foresters were Lora-Arceo in the third flight and Fehn in the fifth. Lora-Arceo defeated Kuzmanovic, 6-4, 6-3, while Fehn ousted Zastrow, 6-2, 6-2.

UW-Oshkosh's Martin played an extra set in the fourth flight, but came up short in a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (12-10) loss to Trivanovic.

UW-Oshkosh travels to Grinnell College (Iowa) for matches next Saturday (Feb. 20) against the host Pioneers and Central College (Iowa).
