Titans Win Two Events In Loss To Eagles

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's swimming & diving team fell 192-83 to UW-La Crosse Saturday afternoon (Jan. 20) at Albee Hall.

Despite the loss to the Eagles, the Titans grabbed wins in two events and recorded five second place finishes and six third place finishes. 

Damen Seremet (So. • Beaver Dam) finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.44) and Chase Millam (Sr. • Stoughton) won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.69).

Millam and Leo Ramirez-Gutierrez (Fr. • Schaumburg, Ill.) tied each other with the most top-three-finishes on the day. Millam took home a third place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.43) while Ramirez-Gutierrez finished third in the 100-yard freestyle (50.43) and a second in the 500-yard freestyle with a 5:18.33.

Alex Ward (Fr. • Yorkville, Ill.), Julian Koller (Fr. • Hartland) and Luke Giles (Fr. • Oswego, Ill.) also took home individual second place finishes for the Titans. Ward finished the 100-yard backstroke in 57.47 seconds, Koller finished the 200-yard butterfly with a 2:11.75 and Giles raced a 2:04.03 in the 200-yard IM.

The 200-yard medley relay squad of Ramirez-Gutierrez, Seremet, CJ Willert (So. • Eau Claire) and Drew Davis (Jr. • Bakersfield, Calif.) grabbed a second place finish in 1:43.21 and a third place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:30.43).

The Titans will host their last meet of the season at Albee Hall next Saturday (Jan. 27) against Loras College (Iowa). The meet will start at 1 pm.
