Titans Race Past Vikings In Appleton

APPLETON, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's swimming & diving team outscored Lawrence University 122-101 at Lawrence University on Saturday (Jan. 6), winning five events.

The 200-yard medley relay squad made up of Alex Ward (Fr. • Yorkville, Ill.), Cade Millam (Jr. • Stoughton), Law Lykins (Fr. • Ellijay, Ga.) and Damen Seremet (So. • Beaver Dam) opened the win with a second place finish of 1:45.38.

Luke Giles (Fr. • Oswego, Ill.) took second with a 10:56.48 time in the 1,000-yard freestyle, followed in third by Chase Millam (Sr. • Stoughton) in 11:23.94.

Oshkosh's top-three spot sweep came in the 200-yard freestyle, when Ben Knoeck (Jr. • Cottage Grove), Lykins and Elias Landolt (Fr. • McFarland) finished in order in the 200-yard freestyle with times of 1:56.54, 1:59.49 and 1:59.57.

Leo Ramirez-Gutierrez (Fr. • Schaumburg, Ill.) took his first top-three finish with a 22.93-second time in the 50-yard freestyle. Drew Davis (Jr. • Bakersfield, Calif.) grabbed third in 23.55.

CJ Willert (So. • Eau Claire) and Glen Cole (Fr. • Milwaukee) finished second in both the 200-yard IM and 1-meter diving by finishing 2:14.25 and 168.38.

In the 100-yard butterfly, Ramirez-Gutierrez won the event in 56.16 and Julian Koller (Fr. • Hartland) took second with a 57.72 finish. Seremet finished second in the 100-yard freestyle (50.73), followed by Davis in 52.61 second.

A 57.01-second performance earned Ward first place in the 100-yard backstroke. After a Viking swimmer took second, Willert grabbed third in 59.23 seconds.

The Titans earned two more top-three finishes in the 500-yard freestyle when Giles finished in 5:20.37 for second and Knoeck took third in 5:22.30.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Seremet took his third top-three finish and first event win with a time of 1:02.41, while Ward finished second in 1:04.54.

Knoeck, Landolt, Ethan DeGroot (So. • Brooklyn Center) and Chase Millam won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:36.01 for Oshkosh's fifth event win of the day.

The Titans return to action at UW-Stevens Point on Friday (Jan. 12) at 5 p.m.
