Titans Handle Pioneers At Home

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's swimming and diving team defeated Carroll University 192-49 in its home opener on Saturday (Oct. 28), collecting 14 first-place finishes.

Alex Ward (Fr. • Yorkville, Ill.), Damen Seremet (So. • Beaver Dam), Leo Ramirez-Gutierrez (Fr. • Schaumburg, Ill.), Ben Knoeck (Jr. • Cottage Grove) took first in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:47.16. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Seremet, Chase Millam (Sr. • Stoughton), Knoeck and Ramirez-Gutierrez grabbed another first-place finish in 3:22.80.

Dylan Edelstein (Fr. • Manhattan, Ill.) took first in both the 1- and 3-meter diving as the only athlete to compete in the events. He scored a 161.25 in the 1-meter and a 164.47 in the 3-meter.

Knoeck, Seremet and Ramirez-Gutierrez all won two-more events in Albee Hall on Saturday. Knoeck placed first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.06) and 500-yard freestyle (5:18.59). Seremet took the top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.95) and 100-yard freestyle (51.48). Ramirez-Gutierrez grabbed the 50-yard freestyle (22.94) and 100-yard butterfly (55.81) crowns.

Millam also grabbed a win in the 1,650-yard freestyle, swimming the event in 19:17.08 and Ward won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:24.37.

CJ Willert (So. • Eau Claire) placed first with a 57.37 time in the 100-yard backstroke.

As the only participant in the 200-yard butterfly, Julian Koller (Fr. Hartland) added another win to Oshkosh's total with a time of 2:18.68.

The Titans return to action at home for a conference dual against UW-Whitewater next Saturday (Nov. 4). The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
