Blugolds Beat Titans In Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis.- Opening its 60th season on the road, the UW-Oshkosh men's swimming & diving team was defeated by conference opponent UW-Eau Claire by a score of 158-73 on Saturday (Oct. 14).

The Titans (0-1, 0-1 WIAC) collected eight second- and six third-place finishes in their loss to the Blugolds (1-0, 1-0 WIAC) by a score of 158-73.

Damen Seremet (So. • Beaver Dam) led Oshkosh with two second-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (22.86) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.22) events.

Also collecting multiple top-three places was Luke Giles (Fr. • Oswego, Ill.). He took second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:24.15 and third in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:05.68.

Individual second-place finishes went to Leo Ramirez-Gutierrez (Fr. • Schaumburg, Ill.) in the 100-yard butterfly (56.29), Ben Knoeck (Jr. • Cottage Grove) in the 100-yard freestyle (52.11), Alex Ward (Fr. • Yorkville, Ill.) in the 100-yard backstroke (58.22) and Dylan Edelstein (Fr. • Manhattan, Ill.) in the 1-meter diving (153.06).

Elias Landolt (Fr. • McFarland), CJ Willert (So. • Eau Claire), Ethan DeGroot (So. • Brooklyn Center, Minn.), Glen Cole (Fr. • Milwaukee) and Chase Millam (Sr. • Stoughton) rounded out Oshkosh's to-three finishes in the 100-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, 500-yard freestyle, 1-meter diving and 100-yard breaststroke, respectively.

Knoeck, Giles, Millam and Law Lykins (Fr. • Ellijay, Ga.) grabbed a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a 1:35.25 time.

The Titans will head to Brown Deer for the annual Wisconsin Showcase Invite hosted by UW-Milwaukee at the Schroeder Aquatic Center next Saturday (Oct. 21). The first event is scheduled for 1 p.m.
