Red Hawks Escape With Win Over Titans

Alex Jernberg won three events and swam on a first-place relay during UW-Oshkosh's 118-106 men's swimming & diving loss to Ripon College Saturday (Feb. 5) in Albee Hall.

Jernberg recorded winning times of 1:02.68 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 5:05.63 in the 500- and 18:00.30 in the 1,650-yard freestyles. He also helped teammates Andrew Copeland, Drew Davis and Chase Millam register a victorious time of 3:26.64 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Titans owned the winner in six events overall, with the other two first-place finishes going to Hayden Freeman and Cade Millam. Freeman won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:11.88 while Millam won the 200-yard breaststroke with a performance of 2:30.52.

In addition to his swim on the Titans' first-place relay, Chase Millam earned second-place results with his times of 24.13 seconds in the 50-, 51.98 seconds in the 100- and 1:50.93 in the 200-yard freestyles.

Freeman also contributed a second-place time of 22:42.80 in the 1,650-yard freestyle while assisting Matt Holst, Ben Knoeck and Cade Millam to a second-place effort of 4:07.36 in the 400-yard medley relay.

UW-Oshkosh's second-place listings concluded with the times of 1:04.15 in the 100-yard backstroke from Davis and 2:24.61 in the 200-yard backstroke from Holst.

The Titans had a trio of third-place swims as Copeland etched a time of 57.74 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly, Holst an effort of 1:09.91 in the 100-yard backstroke and Knoeck a performance of 53.27 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle.

Davis and Cade Millam combined for four of UW-Oshkosh's five fourth-place finishes. Davis posted times of 24.43 seconds in the 50- and 53.36 seconds in the 100-yard freestyles while Millam engraved times of 1:09.30 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:19.20 in the 200-yard individual medley.

The Titans also had Knoeck finish fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.36.

Ripon College tallied eight of the meet's 14 first-place finishes.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it participates at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship on Feb. 16-19 at the Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer. The league championship was canceled in 2021 due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
