Titans Finish Second At Gene Davis Invitational

Alex Jernberg won the 1,650-yard freestyle while Conner Clark finished second in three events to lead UW-Oshkosh to a second-place listing at the Lawrence University Gene Davis Men's Swimming & Diving Invitational Saturday (Nov. 13) in Appleton.

St. Norbert College scored 597 points to capture the team title. UW-Oshkosh placed second to the Green Knights with 473 points while Lawrence University finished third with 467.5, Ripon College fourth with 362.5 and Beloit College fifth with 226.

Jernberg defeated two other contestants in the 1,650-yard freestyle with his winning time of 18:48.56. He also finished third in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 500-yard freestyle with times of 1:04.93 and 5:15.75, respectively, while joining Clark, Cody Else and Hayden Freeman for a fifth-place performance of 1:48.84 in the 200-yard medley relay.

Clark earned his trio of second-place finishes with times of 2:05.84 in the 200-yard butterfly, 4:36.46 in the 400-yard individual medley and 18:49.04 in the 1,650-yard freestyle.

Titan Andrew Copeland also had an exceptional meet by finishing third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.26 seconds and sixth in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyles with swims of 23.49 and 52.72 seconds, respectively. Copeland additionally helped Drew Davis, Chase Millam and Robert Thomasberg register a fourth-place time of 3:29.32 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Else also contributed a third-place time of 19:40.41 in the 1,650- and a fifth-place effort of 5:35.75 in the 500-yard freestyles.

Chase Millam also supplied a third-place time of 1:53.03 in the 200-yard freestyle, a fourth-place performance of 51.82 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle and a seventh-place effort of 23.74 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle.

UW-Oshkosh's Freeman added a fifth-place time of 2:13.19 in the 200-yard butterfly and a sixth-place swim of 59.56 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly.

Thomasberg had three of UW-Oshkosh's remaining top-eight finishes. He placed sixth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:12.35 and seventh in both the 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard freestyle with tempos of 2:18.50 and 1:57.29, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh's group of individual place winners concluded with the seventh-place time of 2:37.50 in the 200-yard breaststroke from Cade Millam and the eighth-place swims of 1:57.58 in the 200-yard freestyle from Ben Knoeck and 2:33.87 in the 200-yard backstroke from Holst.

Knoeck also helped Holst, Quill Graham and Cade Millam etch a sixth-place time of 1:44.45 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

UW-Oshkosh participates in a dual meet at St. Norbert College next Saturday (Nov. 20).
