Lieder, Vandenberg Combine For Five Victories Against The Eagles

Jarrett Lieder and Josiah Vandenberg won two events apiece and were members of a first-place relay during UW-Oshkosh's dual meet with the UW-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team on Saturday (Feb. 13) in Albee Hall.

UW-Oshkosh owned the winner in six of the non-scoring meet's 12 events, including the 1,000-yard freestyle where Lieder established an Albee Hall record with his time of 9:52.32.

Lieder also won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:50.44 while swimming with Vandenberg, Brennan Hoem and Robert Thomasberg for a first-place time of 1:29.33 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Vandenberg earned his individual victories with times of 55.19 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly and 2:04.53 in the 200-yard individual medley.

David Bain acquired UW-Oshkosh's remaining victory with his time of 56.87 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke.

UW-La Crosse's five individual titles on Saturday included two each from Nicholas Litterer and Adam Baryenbruch. Litterer captured the 50- and 100-yard freestyles with times of 22.50 and 48.67 seconds, respectively, while Baryenbruch won the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes with times of 56.73 seconds and 2:09.28, respectively.

The Titans had a trio of second-place freestyle results as Thomasberg registered a time of 1:49.35 at 200 yards, Hoem a time of 5:02.59 at 500 and Cody Else a time of 11:02.91 at 1,000.

Alex Jernberg added a pair of third-place listings for UW-Oshkosh with his times of 1:02.09 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 11:21.38 in the 1,000-yard freestyle.

UW-Oshkosh's 200-yard medley relay group of Bain, Hoem, Andrew Copeland and Matt Holst also finished third with their time of 1:46.55.

Placing fourth for the Titans were Bain in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:18.90 and Copeland in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.79 seconds.

UW-Oshkosh visits UW-Whitewater next Saturday (Feb. 20) for its only road meet of the 2021 season.
