Warhawks Victorious Over Titans

Matt Wilke won both diving events and Jarrett Lieder swam to a pair of top-four finishes during UW-Oshkosh's 176-54 loss to the UW-Whitewater men's swimming & diving team on Friday (Nov. 10) in Whitewater.

Wilke led the Titans by posting first-place diving scores of 228.05 off the 1-meter board and 246.45 off the 3-meter plank. He won the 1-meter diving by 22 points and the 3-meter diving by 54 over UW-Whitewater's Michael Steplyk.

Lieder placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:43.34 and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:11.68. Steven Missak of UW-Whitewater won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:38.08.

UW-Oshkosh had a pair of third-place freestyle finishes as Trevor Jacobs and Josiah Vandenberg earned times of 54.45 seconds at 100 yards and 5:09.57 at 500 yards, respectively. Both Titans contributed fourth-place performances as Jacobs went 2:03.33 in the 200-yard freestyle and Vandenberg 4:52.58 in the 400-yard individual medley.

Other fourth-place finishes went to UW-Oshkosh's Brandon Davison with a time of 54.64 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle, Grady Hilgendorf with an effort of 11:04.84 in the 1,000-yard freestyle and Bryan Solomon in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:14.00.

UW-Whitewater owned the winner in 11 of the 13 events, including Chandler Lewis and Zachary Noll who recorded two first-place finishes apiece. Lewis won the 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard butterfly while Noll won the 100- and 200-yard freestyles.

UW-Oshkosh competes at the Lawrence University Invitational next Saturday (Nov. 18) in Appleton.
