Titans Conquer Red Hawks In Home Finale

Ross Armitage won two events while Michael Gerondale, Grady Hilgendorf and Bryan Solomon all earned a pair of second-place finishes during UW-Oshkosh's 99-90 men's swimming & diving victory over Ripon College on Saturday (Feb. 4) in Albee Hall.

Armitage recorded half of UW-Oshkosh's first-place swims by winning freestyle races at 500- and 1,000 yards with times of 5:09.66 and 10:48.21, respectively.

The Titans also had Mitchell Bricco win the 200-yard butterfly with a performance of 2:08.14 and Jacob Casper the 200-yard breaststroke with an effort of 2:26.05.   

Gerondale finished second with freestyle times of 52.28 seconds at 100 yards and 1:56.21 at 200 while Hilgendorf placed as the runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke and 1,000-yard freestyle with times of 2:27.90 and 11:04.37, respectively. Solomon ranked second with times 23.81 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and 2:12.11 in the 200-yard butterfly.

UW-Oshkosh had two other individuals record second-place swims, Bricco in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:10.13 and Dylan Sobolewski in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:16.14

The Titans finished second in both relays as Armitage, Casper, Sobolewski and Nathan Newman marked a time of 1:52.32 in the 200-yard medley while Bricco, Gerondale, Solomon and Brandon Davison registered a time of 1:34.47 in the 200-yard freestyle.

Davison owned two of UW-Oshkosh's third-place finishes by swimming to freestyle times of 53.73 seconds at 100 yards and 1:58.73 at 200.

UW-Oshkosh also acquired third-place times of 2:19.19 from Casper in the 200-yard individual medley, 5:18.00 from Hilgendorf in the 500-yard freestyle, 24.10 seconds from Newman in the 50-yard freestyle and 2:21.35 from Sobolewski in the 200-yard backstroke.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it competes at the WIAC Championship on Feb. 16-18 at the Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer. The Titans placed fifth at last year's championship with 221 points.
