Eagles Overpower Titans

UW-La Crosse won all 13 events in defeating the UW-Oshkosh men's swimming & diving team, 147-62, on Saturday (Jan. 21) in La Crosse.

UW-Oshkosh finished second to the Eagles in five events and third in four others.

The Titans were led by Ross Armitage who placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:00.19 and third in the 500-yard freestyle with an effort of 5:21.83.

Armitage also joined Brandon Davison, Michael Gerondale and Nathan Newman in registering a second-place time of 1:36.84 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

UW-Oshkosh's Mitchell Bricco and Bryan Solomon also finished second in one event and third in another.

Bricco placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.72 and third in the 100-yard butterfly with a performance of 59.67 seconds while Solomon ranked second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.03 seconds and third in the 50-yard freestyle with a swim of 23.85 seconds.

Bricco and Solomon also teamed with Gerondale and Jacob Casper to post a third-place time of 1:48.00 in the 200-yard medley relay.

Casper concluded UW-Oshkosh's list of top performances with his second-place time of 1:02.84 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The 13 event victories by UW-La Crosse featured a facility-record time of 1:23.51 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it hosts Ripon College on Feb. 4 in Albee Hall.
