Ross Armitage won two events and swam on a first-place relay team as UW-Oshkosh defeated Lawrence University, 99-83, in a men's swimming & diving meet held Saturday (Jan. 7) in Albee Hall.

Armitage celebrated victory with his freestyle times of 5:20.52 at 500 yards and 11:10.57 at 1,000. He also joined Brandon Davison, Nathan Newman and Dylan Sobolewski in posting a first-place time of 1:39.53 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Other event winners for the Titans were Jacob Casper and Bryan Solomon. Casper took the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.93 while Solomon captured the 100-yard butterfly in 56.75 seconds. Solomon also placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.69 seconds.

Grady Hilgendorf dominated UW-Oshkosh's nine second-place listings with his times of 1:05.71 in the 100-yard breaststroke, 5:25.65 in the 500-yard freestyle and 11:10.94 in the 1,000-yard freestyle.

The Titans' Michael Gerondale finished second in a pair of freestyle races, the 100-yard version with a time of 52.72 seconds and the 200-yard edition with a time of 1:56.01. Gerondale also teamed with Casper, Solomon and Mitchell Bricco to register a second-place time of 1:45.79 in the 200-yard medley relay.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining second-place finishers were Bricco with his effort of 2:12.88 in the 200-yard individual medley and Sobolewski with his performance of 1:04.96 in the 100-yard backstroke.

Davison owned two of UW-Oshkosh's three third-place swims with his times of 52.81 seconds in the 100- and 1:56.37 in the 200-yard freestyle events. Bricco was third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.92 seconds.

UW-Oshkosh competes next Saturday (Jan. 14) at Beloit College.
