Titans Lose Dual Meet To Pioneers

Tyler Shircel claimed the 100-yard breaststroke race, but Carroll University won each of the other 10 events as the Pioneers defeated the Titans, 145-56, on Saturday (Oct. 31) in Waukesha.

Shircel and teammate Jacob Casper were the top two finishers in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 1:06.21 and 1:07.75, respectively.

Bob Bonanno led Carroll University by winning both the 100- and 200-yard freestyle races. Bonanno won the 100-yard event by more than three seconds with a time of 50.03 after earning the 200-yard title with a swim of 1:57.21.

UW-Oshkosh produced eight runner-up finishes and two third-place showings.

Grady Hilgendorf placed second in three events – 500-yard freestyle (5:24.54), 1,000-yard freestyle (11:14.05) and 200-yard individual medley (2:15.91). He finished less than one second behind the winner in both the 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley. Carroll University's Shane Murphy-Pociask won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:24.13, while Pioneer Aaron Talabac won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:15.31.

Also finishing second individually for the Titans were Casper in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.75, Zach Hogan in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.67 and Myles Taylor in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.73.

UW-Oshkosh received runner-up efforts from the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Brandon Davison, Hogan, Shircel and Taylor (1:34.21), and the 200-yard medley relay team of Casper, Davison, Hogan and Taylor (1:46.03).

Placing third for UW-Oshkosh were Davison in the 100-yard freestyle (53.81) and Ian Sewell in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.46).

The Titans head to UW-Whitewater for a dual meet on Nov. 13.
