Titans Lose Home Debut To Blugolds

Grady Hilgendorf shared first place in one freestyle event and finished second in another as the UW-Oshkosh men's swimming & diving team lost a 160.5-59.5 decision to UW-Eau Claire on Saturday (Nov. 21) in Albee Hall.

Hilgendorf recorded a time of 18:32.96 in the 1,650-yard freestyle to match the swim of UW-Eau Claire's Jacob Mehring. He then placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:20.07 as UW-Oshkosh swam in its home pool for the first time this season.

Hilgendorf also swam the first leg of UW-Oshkosh's 800-yard freestyle relay team that marked a time of 7:57.89. Other members of the quartet were Ian Sewell, Sam Green and Tyler Shircel.

UW-Oshkosh's Tyler Henke was the meet's lone diving contestant. He tallied 18 points for the Titans by compiling scores of 210.00 off the 3-meter board and 185.63 off the 1-meter plank.

Myles Taylor was a top-three finisher in two events for the Titans. He placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.87 seconds and third in the 200-yard butterfly with a performance of 2:10.37.

UW-Oshkosh also received a second-place time of 2:23.55 in the 200-yard breaststroke from Shircel and a third-place time of 2:11.88 in the 200-yard backstroke from Zach Hogan.

Including the tie in the 1,650-yard freestyle, UW-Eau Claire won 11 of the 13 events.

UW-Oshkosh is idle until it participates at the Rochester Invitational on Dec. 5-6 in Rochester, Minn.
