Hogan, Taylor Set UW-Oshkosh Records At WIAC Meet

Zach Hogan and Myles Taylor swam to UW-Oshkosh records at the WIAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship held Thursday through Saturday (Feb. 19-21) at the Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer.

Hogan finished among the top 16 places in two events, including the 200-yard backstroke where he ranked 13th with a school-record time of 2:01.51. He also placed 15th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.72 seconds.

Taylor registered UW-Oshkosh's best individual finish with his 11th-place, school-record time of 4:50.09 in the 500-yard freestyle.

The Titans' Grady Hilgendorf, Alec Marquardt and Tyler Shircel also placed in the top 16 in two events.

Hilgendorf finished 12th in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:42.97 and 15th in the 500-yard freestyle with a performance of 5:02.53 while Shircel placed 13th in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:24.68 and 16th in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:19.48. Marquardt swam to 16th-place times of 59.82 in the 100-yard backstroke and 2:09.39 in the 200-yard backstroke.

UW-Oshkosh received a 13th-place time of 1:01.07 from Jacob Casper and a 15th-place time of 1:03.43 from Andrew Doyle in the 100-yard breaststroke.

UW-Stevens Point tallied 920 points to capture its 16th straight team title and 19th overall. UW-La Crosse finished second in the five-team meet with 697 points, while UW-Whitewater placed third with 693, UW-Eau Claire fourth with 594 and UW-Oshkosh fifth with 172.

The WIAC named UW-La Crosse's Justin Bublitz as its Diver of the Meet and UW-Whitewater's Josh Kanute as its Swimmer of the Meet. UW-Whitewater's Joel Rollings was named the league's Coach of the Year.
