Titans, Nationally Ranked Warhawks Play To Scoreless Tie

Goalkeeper Sam Gabrilska saved three shots to preserve UW-Oshkosh's scoreless double-overtime tie with the nationally ranked UW-Whitewater men's soccer team on Saturday (Oct. 24) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Gabrilska recorded his sixth shutout of the season and the 18th of his career by stopping UW-Whitewater shots from Jordan Wilkins in the fourth minute of play, Dylan Hottsmith in the 54th and Justin Stanko in the 78th.

UW-Whitewater goalkeeper Alex Buchman earned his fifth shutout of the year by blocking four UW-Oshkosh shots, including attempts by Jakub Rys in the 84th and 101st minute of action. Buchman also saved shots by Titans Jacob Hernandez in the 37th minute and Alec Pasick in the 90th.

UW-Oshkosh (10-3-3) posted advantages of 25-9 in shots and 10-5 in corner kicks against a UW-Whitewater (14-2-1) squad that entered the contest ranked fifth in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

A total of 11 players attempted shots for the Titans, including Javier Simon who launched six, Hernandez who fired five and Michael Dugan and Jonathan Stanley who dispatched three apiece. Stanko owned a team-best four shots for the Warhawks.

Due to a pair of yellow cards on one player that converted into a red card, UW-Oshkosh played the last 73:14 and UW-Whitewater the final 47:51 of the match with 10 players on the field.

Saturday's contest was the 34th between the teams. UW-Oshkosh, which has gone 2-0-2 in the last four meetings, owns a 17-11-6 record in a series that began in 1984.

UW-Oshkosh concludes its regular season at Finlandia University (Mich.) on Wednesday (Oct. 28). The Titans will then await the announcement of the 61 teams for the NCAA Division III Championship on Nov. 9 to see if their 32nd season continues.
