Second-Half Goals Help Titans Defeat Raiders

Trent Allison scored two second-half goals to help give UW-Oshkosh a 2-0 victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering in a men's soccer match held Wednesday (Sept. 16) at J. J. Keller field at Titan Stadium.

The Titans now hold a 7-1 record over the Raiders, who appeared in last year's NCAA Division III Championship.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Sam Gabrilska tallied eight saves en route to the team's fifth consecutive shutout. The Titans also had three team saves.

Clear-cut chances were hard to come by in the first half, but the Raiders had the first legitimate one in the 45th minute (44:54). Logan Andryk sent a shot from the top of the box through traffic, but the Titans were able to deflect the ball out of bounds just before it reached the goal.

Milwaukee School of Engineering (4-2) held an 8-6 shot advantage in a scoreless first half.

UW-Oshkosh began the second half with a lot of possession and movement, and the breakthrough came in the 59th minute (58:50) when Allison finished a low shot past the goalkeeper from 10 yards out. Karl Bock and Elias Efthimiou provided passes that led to the score.

The Titans doubled their advantage in the 68th minute (67:50) when Allison drilled a shot from 13 yards out after the ball was deflected to his feet. With his second score of the game, Allison reached three goals on the season.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Sam Gabrilska came up with three big saves following the Titans' goal to preserve the shutout.

Each team launched 15 shots during the game, but Milwaukee School of Engineering led, 11-8, in shots on goal. Allison and Michael Dugan led the Titans in shots with three.

Milwaukee School of Engineering goalkeeper Sean Stelter recorded four saves while his teammates combined for another two.

UW-Oshkosh hosts Central College (Iowa) on Sunday (Sept. 20) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
