Titans Keep Warriors Off The Attack

Tyler Howard and Elias Efthimiou both scored for the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team during a 2-0 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran College on Wednesday (Sept. 9) in Milwaukee.

The Titans (2-1-1) held the Warriors (1-2-0) to just two shots the entire game, neither of which was on goal. UW-Oshkosh recorded 18 shots.

UW-Oshkosh remains unbeaten against Wisconsin Lutheran College in three meetings and has yet to concede a goal.

The result also marked head coach Wytse Molenaar's 70th career win at UW-Oshkosh.

The first big chance of the game came in the 26th minute (25:23) when the Warriors committed a foul in the box and Javier Simon's penalty kick was ultimately saved by goalkeeper Cedric Guichard.

Eight minutes later UW-Oshkosh found the back of the net after a cross into the box was headed home by Howard in the 34th minute (33:57) for his first career goal. The goal followed passes by Simon and Nick Orne.

The Titans finished the opening half with 10-0 shot advantage.

Just minutes into the second half, UW-Oshkosh doubled its advantage after Efthimiou steered his shot into the net during the 50th minute (49:57).

In the 57th minute, Wisconsin Lutheran College recorded its first shot of the game after Marco Perez sent his effort wide.

The Titans continued to pepper the Warriors with shots for the remainder of the match, while Wisconsin Lutheran College struggled to challenge Titans goalkeeper Sam Gabrilska.

UW-Oshkosh ended the game with an 18-2 shot advantage. The Warriors were held without a shot on goal while the Titans recorded six.

Trent Allison, Jonathan Stanley and JT Heidvogel each had three shots to lead UW-Oshkosh.

Gabrilska didn't face a single shot on goal during his full 90 minutes for the Titans, while Guichard played a full shift, recording four saves for the Warriors.

UW-Oshkosh led in corner kicks, 6-3.

UW-Oshkosh hosts Chapman University (Calif.) on Sunday (Sept. 13) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. The contest is the first of three consecutive home games for the Titans.
