Six Titans Receive All-Wisconsin Honors

Six UW-Oshkosh men's soccer players were selected to the 2014 All-Wisconsin NCAA Division III Team.

The squad, chosen by the state's NCAA Division III head coaches, featured three 14-player teams.

UW-Oshkosh sophomores Karl Bock and Jacob Hernandez were among the first-team honorees.

Bock, a defender, was named the state's Defensive Player of the Year. The two-time All-WIAC First Team selection started 17 of the Titans' 21 matches this past season and anchored a defense that recorded 12 shutouts and a 0.64 goals-against average. Bock scored his lone goal during UW-Oshkosh's 4-1 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin.

Hernandez, a midfielder, received NCAA Division III All-North Region Second Team and All-WIAC First Team honors in the past six weeks. Hernandez scored one goal and assisted on another during UW-Oshkosh's win over Concordia University Wisconsin and the Titans' 4-0 victory over St. Norbert College.

UW-Oshkosh players voted to the second team were freshman forward Javier Simon and junior defender Jonathan Stanley. Both players received All-WIAC First Team awards earlier this year.

Simon made an immediate impact this season as a starter in 13 of the 21 matches that he played. He scored 18 points on nine goals to lead the Titans in both categories. Simon had three game-winning goals and scored twice during UW-Oshkosh's 6-0 win over Marian University.

Stanley started 14 of the 21 contests that he played. He helped UW-Oshkosh allow just 14 goals and the record the 21st-best goals-against average in the country. Stanley also scored eight points on three goals and two assists.

UW-Oshkosh's selections to the third team were junior forward Michael Dugan and sophomore goalkeeper Sam Gabrilska.

Dugan started eight of the 20 matches that he participated in. He received All-WIAC Second Team honors after totaling 14 points on five goals and four assists. Dugan scored two goals and assisted on another during UW-Oshkosh's win over Marian University.

Gabrilska, the 2014 WIAC Defensive Player of the Year, started 14 of the 15 matches that he played. He allowed just seven goals in 1,293 minutes of action to rank ninth in the NCAA Division III with a 0.49 goals-against average. Gabrilska recorded six shutouts this past season, including four-save performances against UW-Platteville and UW-Whitewater in the WIAC Championship.

UW-Oshkosh went 7-0-1 in its last eight matches to finish the 2014 season with a 14-5-2 record. The Titans captured the WIAC championship with a 1-0 victory over UW-Whitewater in the final of the league's postseason tournament.
