First-Half Goals Enough For Titans To Defeat Pioneers
The UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team recorded its fifth straight shutout in a 2-0 victory over UW-Platteville on Sunday (Oct. 26) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
The Titans (12-5-1, 3-0 WIAC), who defeated the Pioneers for the 26th time in 32 meetings, have shut out all three conference opponents and remained the atop the WIAC standings with one regular-season conference match remaining.
UW-Oshkosh opened the scoring in the 24th minute (23:33) on a Danny Kobin goal off a corner kick by Jacob Hernandez. Kobin snuck his 20-yard shot inside the left post for his second goal of the season.
Michael Dugan added his fifth goal of the season just before halftime in the 45th minute (44:50) on a 15-yard header that was set up on by assist from John Schwalbach.
UW-Oshkosh goalkeepers Sam Gabrilska and Nick Barry combined for three saves, including two by Gabrilska.
The Titans limited the Pioneers (6-9-3, 1-2 WIAC) to two shots in the second half and outshot UW-Platteville, 20-7, during the match.
David Radtke led UW-Oshkosh with four shots while Dugan had a match-high three shots on goal. Hernandez, Kobin and Javier Simon added two shots apiece.
Alex Bach paced the Pioneers with two shots.
UW-Platteville goalkeeper Scott Sibik recorded 10 saves.
UW-Oshkosh has outscored its last five opponents by a combined 18-0 score.
The Titans conclude their regular-season schedule when they travel to UW-Whitewater on Sunday (Nov. 2).
