Titans Tame Lions For Fourth Straight Shutout

The UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team scored three goals during the first 38 minutes of play and added another in the 85th to defeat Finlandia University (Mich.), 4-0, on Saturday (Oct. 25) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh (11-5-1, 2-0 WIAC) received goals from four different players, including Hans Becker who put the Titans ahead with an 8-yard shot in the game's 17th minute (16:52). Becker's fourth goal of the season came off a pass from Trent Allison.

The Titans took a 2-0 lead on Nick Gonzales' first goal of the year in the 33rd minute (32:56). His 3-yard scoring play followed a pass from Jonathan Stanley.

UW-Oshkosh closed out its first-half scoring on a goal by Michael Dugan in the 38th minute (37:52). Dugan's 10-yard kick, which marked his fourth goal of the season, followed a serve from Gonzales.

The Titans' David Radtke made it a 4-0 score with a goal off a pass from Becker in the 85th minute (84:21). The goal was Radtke's third of the year.

UW-Oshkosh outshot Finlandia University (6-8, 0-4 WIAC) by a 13-1 count in each half. The Titans also earned all nine of the game's corner kicks.

A total of 13 players attempted shots for UW-Oshkosh, including Javier Simon who launched five, Gonzales who fired four and Becker who dispatched three. Saul Ibarra and Rolph Fleurissaint accounted for the two Finlandia University shots.

Sam Gabrilska didn't face a shot while guarding the UW-Oshkosh goal for the game's first 36 minutes (35:55). Nick Barry replaced Gabrilska and saved the only shot he faced over the final 54 minutes (54:05). Together, they helped UW-Oshkosh record its ninth shutout of the season.

Finlandia University goalkeeper Brandon Roeske saved 11 shots while allowing all four UW-Oshkosh scores. Her recorded seven of his stops in the opening period.

UW-Oshkosh has won all eight of its contests with Finlandia University, outscoring the Lions by a 47-0 tally.

UW-Oshkosh returns to J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium on Sunday (Oct. 26) for a WIAC match against UW-Platteville.
