Cheaney Selected WIAC Soccer Player Of The Week

UW-Oshkosh defender Matt Cheaney was named the WIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Aug. 25-31.

Cheaney played an instrumental defensive role as UW-Oshkosh opened its 2014 season with road victories over Central College (Iowa) on Aug. 29 and Nebraska Wesleyan University on Aug. 30.

UW-Oshkosh shut out both opponents, posting wins of 1-0 over Central College and 3-0 over Nebraska Wesleyan University. The Titans allowed just seven shots (four on goal) and two corner kicks in the two matches.

Forward Saul Ibarra of Finlandia University (Mich.) was named the WIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

UW-Oshkosh (2-0) is ranked 21st in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
