Redmond Named WIAC Soccer Scholar-Athlete Of The Year
UW-Oshkosh midfielder Ryan Redmond has been named the 2013 recipient of the WIAC Max Sparger Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete Award.
Redmond becomes the fourth Titan in the last five years to earn the honor. Previous UW-Oshkosh award winners since men's soccer became a conference sport in 2009 were Paul Beach (2009), Jack Borski (2010) and Garrett O'Brien (2011). UW-Oshkosh's Robin Rameker also won the award in 1995.
Redmond, a senior from Goodhue, Minn., received All-WIAC second-team honors this year after collecting first-team accolades a year ago. In 2013, he started all 21 matches, recorded two assists and helped anchor a defense that shut out nine opponents and allowed just 15 goals.
Redmond played in 73 matches during his UW-Oshkosh career and totaled five goals and six assists. This season, he helped the Titans compile a 15-2-4 record and gain a berth in the NCAA Division III Championship. In 2010, he was a member of an UW-Oshkosh squad that went 20-1-3 and reached the semifinal round of the NCAA Division III Championship.
In the classroom, Redmond holds a 3.83 grade-point average as a social science major. He is a six-time member of the University Dean's List and a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
Redmond has worked for a food service company, as a clinical student at Oshkosh West High School and as a Lighted House employee at an area elementary school.
