Titans Defeat Pioneers For Third Straight Shutout

UW-Oshkosh won by a shutout for the third straight match as it defeated the Carroll University men's soccer team, 1-0, on Sunday (Oct. 28) in Waukesha.

The Titans scored their only goal on a five-yard header by Jonathan Stanley (Fr. • Lindenhurst, Ill.) in the contest's 38th minute (37:10). Stanley's fourth goal of the season came off a cross from Michael Dugan (Fr. • Waukesha).

UW-Oshkosh's defense held the Pioneers (10-7-1) to just three shots, none of which were on goal. Justin Gerhartz, Mark Gore and Francisco Sajuan took Carroll University shots.

Stanley attempted eight UW-Oshkosh shots, while Sean Boulanger (Fr. • New Franken) launched three and Chris Kurth (Jr. • Green Bay) and Ryan Redmond (Jr. • Lake Elmo, Minn.) two each. The Titans (9-4-3) posted a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Nick Barry (So. • Wheaton, Ill.) didn't face a shot as he recorded his fifth shutout of the season and the Titans' ninth.

Carroll University goalkeeper Tomek Miaskowski finished the contest with five saves, including four in the first half.

It was the seventh meeting between the teams, with UW-Oshkosh now holding a 5-2 advantage in the series.

UW-Oshkosh concludes its regular season at UW-Whitewater on Friday (Nov. 2).
