Titans Done In By Pioneer Duo

Brandon Chmiel and Mark Ciszewski both scored twice to lead UW-Platteville to a 5-2 victory over the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team on Saturday (Oct. 20) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Ciszewski opened the contest's scoring when he took a pass from Caleb Sedlacek and kicked an eight-yard shot into the net just 7:22 into play.

Ciszewski's second goal came only 11 seconds (45:11) into the second half. Following the period's kickoff, Ciszewski took a pass from Austin Klemm and scored on a 10-yard shot to give the Pioneers a 3-0 lead.

UW-Platteville (13-2-1, 2-0 WIAC) took a 2-0 advantage on Mark Feltner's seven-yard header in the 34th minute (33:32) of action. Feltner's shot came off a free kick by Chris Brown.

UW-Oshkosh (6-4-3, 1-1 WIAC) cut its deficit to 3-2 on goals by Evan Krause (Fr. • New Berlin) and Danny Karrels (So. • Port Washington).

Krause scored his fourth goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 56th minute (55:06), while Karrels tallied his first goal of the year on a one-yard tap in the 70th (69:35). Michael Dugan (Fr. • Waukesha) assisted the goal by Karrels.

Chmiel then answered UW-Oshkosh's charge with a pair of goals in the final 12 minutes. He gave UW-Platteville a 4-2 lead with a 30-yard free kick in the 78th minute (77:28) and a 5-2 advantage with a penalty kick in the 88th (87:25). Chmiel now leads the WIAC with 11 goals on the season.

UW-Oshkosh attempted 10 shots, including nine in the second half, and earned three corner kicks. Karrels had three shots and Sean Boulanger (Fr. • New Franken) two to pace the Titans.

UW-Platteville launched 16 shots, including 11 in the second period, and was credited with one corner kick. The four shots of Chmiel and three of Brown led the Pioneers.

A total of nine goalkeeping saves were made, five by UW-Oshkosh's Nick Barry (So. • Wheaton, Ill.) and four by UW-Platteville's Ian Christensen.
