Thunder Strike Down Titans In Double Overtime

Josh Clark sent a shot into the net during the second overtime period to give Wheaton College a 2-1 men's soccer win over UW-Oshkosh on Friday (Oct. 5) in Wheaton, Ill.

The Thunder (8-3-2) got on the board first with Adam Blackman's seventh goal of the year. Blackman's score at the 13:57 mark was set up by Anthony Noah.

UW-Oshkosh (5-2-3) had Evan Krause (Fr. • New Berlin) try a free kick in the 56th minute, and Krause delivered a goal to even the score at 1.

Marshall Hollingsworth recorded the assist on Clark's game-winner, which came in the 102nd minute of play. It was the fifth goal of the season for Clark.

Both goalkeepers went the distance (101:45). Ryan Seager saved one shot in the winning effort, while Nick Barry (So. • Wheaton, Ill.) stopped five.

Wheaton held advantages of 17-13 in shots and 8-7 in corner kicks. The Thunder did not allow a shot in overtime while taking five of their own. Blackman and UW-Oshkosh's Jonathan Stanley (Fr. • Lindenhurst, Ill.) led all players with five shots in the contest.

The Titans begin their five-game homestand against North Park University (Ill.) on Wednesday (Oct. 10).
