Titans Crush Yellowjackets In Closing Minutes

Tim Stadler's 20-yard goal with 5:23 remaining gave the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team a 1-0 triumph over UW-Superior on Saturday at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Neither squad could find the goal for the first 84 minutes of the match, but Stadler broke the stalemate with a hard strike into the right side of the net. Stadler's second goal of the season came off a pass from Ryan Hanna.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper James Pike saved four shots to record his 20th career shutout. UW-Superior goalkeeper Matt Elder also made four saves.

UW-Oshkosh (9-5-2/4-2 WIAC) attempted 12 shots in the second half and totaled 5 for the game. Tony Starnes paced the Titans with four shots, while Stadler tallied three and Hanna and Will Chaney two each.

UW-Superior (11-6-2/3-4 WIAC), which is winless in 13 matches against UW-Oshkosh), launched eight shots. The Yellowjackets had Logan George, Thomas Shuldheisz and Dan Warnke take two shots each.

UW-Oshkosh earned its third 1-0 victory of the year to achieve its 27th consecutive winning season.

Finlandia University (Mich.) visits J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium on Sunday (Oct. 30) for UW-Oshkosh's final home match of the season.
