Titans Get Revenge For Earlier Loss To Pioneers

Paul Marx (Jr. • New Berlin) scored in the first half and Evan Maly (Sr. • Neenah) in the second as the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team marked a 2-0 victory over UW-Platteville on Sunday (Oct. 16) in Platteville.

UW-Oshkosh, which suffered a 1-0 home loss to the Pioneers on Oct. 8, took a 1-0 lead when Marx scored his first goal of the season in the 18th minute (17:55) of play.

The Titans (8-4-2/3-2 WIAC) held their slim lead until Maly scored off a cross from Garrett O'Brien (Sr. • Shoreview, Minn.) in the 68th minute (67:48) of action. The goal was Maly's third of the season.

UW-Oshkosh attempted 13 shots, including nine in the first half, and posted a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks. Marx, Jonathan Fox (Fr. • Brooklyn), Tim Stadler (Sr. • Wauwatosa) and Tony Starnes (Jr. • Green Bay) led the Titans with two shots each.

UW-Platteville (8-8-1/2-3 WIAC), which had its three-match winning streak snapped, was held to just six shots. The Pioneers were led by the two shots of Hunter McMahon.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper James Pike (Sr. • Wauwatosa) saved five shots to register his fifth shutout of the season and the 19th of his career. UW-Platteville goalkeeper Jared Kuehl saved eight shots, including five in the first half.
