Titans Unable To Reel In Muskies

Adam Benson converted a penalty kick with 4:02 to play as the Lakeland College men's soccer team defeated UW-Oshkosh, 2-1, on Sunday (Oct. 23) in Sheboygan.

Benson's game-winning goal broke a stalemate that was created when Lakeland College's Farouk Dadzie scored off a pass from Jeremy Hardy in the 42nd minute (41:10) of action. UW-Oshkosh (8-5-2), which had its three-match winning streak snapped, took a 1-0 lead on Garrett O'Brien's (Sr. • Shoreview, Minn.) goal in the 14th minute (13:14) of play. O'Brien's team-leading fifth goal of the season was assisted by Danny Karrels (Fr. • Port Washington).

UW-Oshkosh posted convincing advantages of 16-8 in shots and 11-2 in corner kicks. The Titans recorded nine of their shots and seven of their corner kicks in the second half.

UW-Oshkosh's shot count was led by the four of Jonathan Fox (Fr. • Brooklyn). The Titans also had O'Brien, Will Chaney (Sr. • Cedarburg), Paul Marx (Jr. • New Berlin) and Ryan Redmond (So. • Lake Elmo, Minn.) launch two shots each.

Lakeland College (7-7-3) , which beat UW-Oshkosh for just the second time in seven meetings (2-5 record), was led by the three shots of Benson and the two of Hardy.

The contest featured 10 goalkeeping saves, including six by the Muskies' Alex Piekarski. UW-Oshkosh's Taylor Zyvoloski (Fr. • Port Washington) saved four shots in 86:30 of action, while Nick Barry (Fr. • Wheaton, Ill.) went unchallenged in 3:30 of play.

UW-Oshkosh returns to J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium on Saturday (Oct. 29) to host UW-Superior.
