Vikings Become Titans' Seventh Straight Shutout Victim

Ryan Hanna (Fr. • Verona) broke a scoreless tie late in the first half and Nick Laubenstein (Fr. • Howard) added an insurance goal early in the second as the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team topped Lawrence University, 2-0, on Tuesday (Sept. 28) in Appleton.

It was the seventh straight shutout and ninth of the season for UW-Oshkosh (9-0-1). The Titans, who entered the contest ranked 16th in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, haven't allowed a goal in their last 700 minutes (699:52) of competition.

Hanna put UW-Oshkosh ahead 1-0 when he scored an unassisted goal in the 36th minute (35:15) of play. The goal was Hanna's third of the season.

In the 49th minute (48:37), UW-Oshkosh's advantage went to 2-0 as Laubenstein headed a ball into the goal off a pass from Jesse Klein (Jr. • Burnsville, Minn.). The goal was Laubenstein's fourth of the season.

UW-Oshkosh, which tallied its 23rd straight win over Lawrence University, finished the contest with 13 shots and nine corner kicks. The Titans were led by the three shots of Robby Giljohann (Jr. • Pewaukee) and two of both Hanna and Tony Starnes (So. • Green Bay).

Lawrence University (5-3-1) was limited to four shots and one corner kick. The Vikings were paced by the two shots of Colin Vize.
Both teams shared their goalkeeping duty as James Pike (Jr. • Wauwatosa) and Tim Gindville (Sr. • New Lenox, Ill.) guarded the net for UW-Oshkosh while Steven Solomon and Andrew Finley protected the net for Lawrence University. Pike had two saves in 58:06 of action, while Solomon, who allowed both UW-Oshkosh goals, had two saves in 62:14 and Finley one in 27:46. Gindville didn't have to make save in 31:54 of play.
