Titans Silenced By Thunder

The 16th-ranked UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team turned in another strong defensive effort, but an early second half goal sent visiting Wheaton College (Ill.) home with a 1-0 win in a match played Saturday (Oct. 17) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

The loss snapped a four-match winning streak for the Titans, who had shut out their last three non-conference opponents, 15-0.

The lone goal of the match came at the 47:38 mark, when Wheaton College's Stephen Mesko knocked in his second goal of the year, this one assisted by Jason Lollar, from 40 yards out straight away.

The offense for UW-Oshkosh outshot Wheaton College 10-8, led by Robby Giljohann with four shots and Devon Prideaux with two.

Goalkeeper Tim Gindville saved five shots, and allowed one goal to eight shots faced.

The Titans (11-2-1) continue action on the road against WIAC conference foe Finlandia University (Mich.) on Tuesday (Oct. 20).
