Borski Named CoSIDA Academic All-American

Excellence on the field and exemplary work in the classroom has earned UW-Oshkosh defender Jack Borski (Jr. • Madison) a spot on the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Men's Soccer Team.

Borski was selected to the third team of the College Division squad by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). A total of 33 student-athletes were honored, with 12 placed on the first team, 10 on the second and 11 on the third. The College Division team features student-athletes from NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA schools.

This past season, Borski tallied one goal and three assists while starting all 17 matches that he played in. His performance in the defensive backfield helped the Titans to eight shutouts, a 0.82 goals against average and a 13-4-2 record.

In 2008, Borski earned NCAA Division III All-North Central Region second team honors by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He totaled two assists while helping UW-Oshkosh to 10 shutouts, a 0.86 goals against average and an 11-5-2 record. Borski started all 18 matches that he played in.

In 2007, Borski started 20 of the 21 contests that he played in. He compiled five assists while helping the Titans to 13 shutouts, a 0.61 goals against average, a 17-3-1 record and an appearance in the third round of the NCAA Division III Championship.

Borski owns a 3.85 cumulative grade point average as a geology major. He is a member of two UW-Oshkosh organizations, the Geology Club and the Campus Community Food Garden.

Borski was the only men's soccer player from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) to receive a spot on this year's squad.

Borski becomes the third UW-Oshkosh men's soccer player to receive CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. He follows the second-team selection of Mitch Poppen in 1993 and the third-team mention of Rich Plier in 2000. Since the inception of the CoSIDA Academic All-America Program in 1952, 41 UW-Oshkosh student-athletes have combined to total 53 Academic All-America awards.
