Titans Blank Red Hawks

The UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team, ranked 16th in the nation by the NSCAA, shut out its third straight non-conference opponent, 5-0, over Ripon College on Wednesday (Oct. 14) at Ripon.

The win extends the series lead for UW-Oshkosh over Ripon College to a record of 24-0-2, and marks the Titans' seventh shut out on the season.

UW-Oshkosh opened scoring on a cold and windy afternoon at the 10:29 mark, when Will Howell's pass found Paul Beach open, who knocked it in for his fourth goal of the year, giving the Titans a 1-0 advantage.

In the second half, Paul Beach would play a part in the Titans' next goal as well, this time assisting Michael Franzen's first goal of the year at the 48:56 mark to expand the lead to 2-0.

Next, at the 73:37 mark, Greg Jones would knock in a penalty kick, his first goal of the year, to extend the lead to 3-0 for UW-Oshkosh.

At the 82:20 mark, UW-Oshkosh would extend their lead once again, thanks to an own goal from Ripon College to make the score 4-0.

Yet another penalty kick would close out the scoring for the night, as at the 88:16 mark, Kyle Heimstead knocked in his kick, and made the final score 5-0.

UW-Oshkosh (11-1-1) was led offensively by Paul Beach with four shots and Will Howell, Robby Giljohann, Greg Jones and Kyle Heimstead all with two apiece.

Goalkeeper James Pike finished with four saves to six total shots faced.

The Titans continue action on Saturday (Oct. 17) against Wheaton College (Ill.) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
