Titans' Defense Shines In Shutout Over Sabres

The defense of the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team played to near perfection as the Titans posted to a 2-0 victory over Marian University on Wednesday (Sept. 16) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

The win was UW-Oshkosh's 11th straight over Marian University. It also was the Titans' third straight shutout victory and fourth of the season.

Will Howell (Sr. • Waunakee) started the scoring for the Titans at the 14:28 mark with a goal off of a penalty kick.

UW-Oshkosh's final score came at the 55:23 mark when Fedja Korjenic (So. • Sarajevo, Bosnia) followed passes from Robby Giljohann (So. • Pewaukee) and Mike Franzen (Jr. • Sussex) and kicked a shot in from 10 yards out.

UW-Oshkosh's defense shined and didn't allow a single shot the entire match. The Titans yielded just one corner kick, that coming in the 53rd minute of play.

Leading the offense for UW-Oshkosh were Brandon Briones (Jr. • Menasha) with five shots, Korjenic with four and Howell with three.

UW-Oshkosh (5-0-1) continues action against Concordia University Wisconsin on Monday, (Sept. 21). Action kicks off at 7 p.m. at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
