Titans Capture Lions

The 16th-ranked UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team, looking to rebound from a weekend loss, did so in a big way, racking up a season-high in goals during its 9-0 win over Finlandia University on Tuesday (Oct. 20) at Hancock, Mich.

UW-Oshkosh started the scoring early on a rainy afternoon at the 4:20 mark, when Jesse Klein's second goal of the year came off of Garrett O'Brien's corner kick.

The next score for the Titans came 36 seconds later at the 4:56 mark, when Jesse Klein assisted Garrett O'Brien for his second goal of the year to give the Titans a 2-0 advantage. At the 12:39 mark, Evan Maly found the goal off of a corner kick by Jesse Klein and an assist from Garrett O'Brien to expand the lead to 3-0.

Will Chaney added the Titans' next goal, this one at the 21:03 mark, off an assist from Kyle Wallin to make the score 4-0. This score was followed closely by Garrett O'Brien's second goal of the afternoon at the 23:35 mark, this one assisted by Will Chaney, giving the Titans a 5-0 lead. At the 25:34 mark, Musa Sowe added his third goal of the season off of an assist from Tim Stadler, to expand the UW-Oshkosh lead to 6-0.

UW-Oshkosh scored twice more before the half, first at the 31:06 mark, with Garrett O'Brien's third goal of the night, unassisted, and at the 35:40 mark from Greg Jones' second goal of the year, off of Garrett O'Brien's corner kick, to make the halftime advantage for the Titans, 8-0. The Titans would add one more goal after the half at the 69:32 mark, when Paul Marx scored his first collegiate goal, unassisted, to make the final score 9-0.

UW-Oshkosh (12-2-1/2-0 WIAC) outshot Finlandia University 26-7, led by Paul Marx, Garrett O'Brien and Greg Jones all with six shots.

Goalkeeper Aaron Brzeski had six saves to seven shots faced and no goals allowed.

The Titans continue action on Saturday (Oct. 24) as they travel to Carroll University.
