Titans Fall To Redlands In Ohio

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The UW-Oshkosh men's basketball team fell to the University of Redlands (Calif.) 82-62 on Saturday (Nov. 18) at Wittenberg University (Ohio) in the Great Lakes Invitational.

Despite the loss, the Titans (2-1) were able to pace the Bulldogs (4-0) in three-point field goal percentage (47.1 to 33.3) and assists (16 to 15).

Jay Dalton (Fr. • Fond du Lac) led the Titans with a season-high 12 points. He also added a rebound and three assists. Carter Thomas (So. • Neenah) had a strong showing with 12 points and went four-of-five from behind the three-point line.

Oshkosh took an early lead after a three-pointer from Michael Metcalf-Grassman (Fr. • Shawano) made the score 5-4. Redlands then went on a 19-9 run to regain the lead and bring the score to 23-14 with 9:37 left in the first half.

Oshkosh was able to cut the lead down to seven after a pair of free throws from Will Mahoney (Sr. • Appleton), but that was followed by a 10-3 Bulldog run to put Redlands up at the end of the first half, 43-29.

Thomas started off hot in the second half, hitting his first three three-point attempts. A layup from Dalton cut the Bulldog lead to nine with 10 minutes remaining, before a 13-6 run by Redlands put them back in control with a 73-57 lead.

A pair of free throws from Reed Seckar (So. • Oshkosh) with 22 seconds remaining brought the final score to 82-62.

The Titans will return to action on Tuesday (Nov. 21) at Edgewood College at 7 p.m.
