Royston Receives All-WIAC Basketball Award

UW-Oshkosh's Jade Royston was one of 11 men chosen for the 2014 All-WIAC Basketball Team.

A starter in all 26 games, Royston led the Titans with averages of 11 points and 3.1 assists (sixth in the WIAC). He also grabbed 100 rebounds and 24 steals while making 78 percent of his free throws (107-138).

Royston booked his top scoring games with 25 points at UW-Platteville on Dec. 4 and 20 points at Carthage College on Nov. 30. During the Jan. 29 defeat at UW-La Crosse, he handed out a career-high seven assists. Royston also posted nine rebounds and five assists in the victory over St. Scholastica on Dec. 28.

Royston was an honorable mention pick on the 2013 All-WIAC Team.

During his 97-game career, Royston started 71 times and totaled 859 points, 259 rebounds, 226 assists and 72 steals. He made 88 three-pointers and connected on 79 percent of his free throws.

The All-WIAC First Team included UW-Stevens Point's Trevor Hass, Clayton Heuer and Tyler Tillema, UW-Whitewater's Eric Bryson, KJ Evans and Quardell Young, UW-Platteville's Chas Cross, UW-Stout's Aaron Jenny, UW-La Crosse's Calahan Skogman and UW-River Falls' Ollie White.

Tillema was voted WIAC Player of the Year. UW-Whitewater's Alex Merg received Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while UW-Stevens Point's Bob Semling gained the top coaching award.
