Flanigan Voted To All-WIAC First Team

UW-Oshkosh forward John Flanigan (Sr. • Oshkosh) was named to the All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men's Basketball Team after ranking among the league's statistical leaders in several categories during the 2011-12 season.

Flanigan, a first-team selection, started all 24 games that he played in and averaged 19.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest. He also totaled 46 assists and 26 steals while shooting 51.9 percent (162-312) from the field and 88.3 percent (143-162) from the free-throw line. Flanigan leads the WIAC in free-throw percentage while ranking second in scoring, fourth in rebounding and 12th in field goal percentage. His free-throw accuracy ranks 14th in the NCAA Division III and scoring average 35th.

Flanigan recorded seven double-doubles this past season, including a 32-point, 14-rebound performance during UW-Oshkosh's 77-71 loss to Carroll University on Dec. 31. He also scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in an 87-83 overtime loss to UW-Stevens Point on Feb. 8. Flanigan counted 32 points and nine rebounds in his final game, a 71-68 loss to UW-Stout on Feb. 18.

During the 2010-11 season, Flanigan received All-WIAC honorable mention status after averaging 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest. He started all 25 games, including a 25-point, 19-rebound contest against UW-Whitewater.

Flanigan compiled averages of 7.4 points and 4.4 rebounds over 25 games during the 2009-10 season. He appeared in 26 contests during the 2008-09 campaign and tallied 84 points and 73 rebounds. Flanigan's career totals include 1,120 points, 527 rebounds, 128 assists and 67 steals in 100 games.

UW-Whitewater's Chris Davis was selected as WIAC Player of the Year. The remaining eight members of the first team were Dan Tillema and Tyler Tillema of UW-Stevens Point, Ben Aalfs of UW-Superior, Al Chery of UW-La Crosse, Luke Knoble of UW-Whitewater, Shane Manor of UW-River Falls, Jordan Petersen of UW-Eau Claire and Brett Stangel of UW-Platteville.

Pat Miller was named WIAC Coach of the Year after leading UW-Whitewater to the regular-season championship.
