Flanigan Receives All-WIAC Honorable Mention Recognition

UW-Oshkosh's leading scorer and rebounder, John Flanigan (Jr. • Oshkosh), has received honorable mention recognition on the All-WIAC Men's Basketball Team.

Flanigan, one of nine players to achieve honorable mention status, posted 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. He also topped the Titans with 24 steals. Flanigan compiled 47 percent shooting from the field and 68 percent accuracy at the foul line while starting all 25 contests.

Recording four double-doubles, Flanigan tallied 25 points and 19 rebounds during an overtime defeat to UW-Whitewater. Just two games later, he surpassed that effort with 26 points and nine boards in a victory over UW-La Crosse. Helping the Titans to wins over UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout, Flanigan scored 24 points on both Jan. 26 and Feb. 5.

Flanigan has missed just one game in his three seasons, and he saw action in all 25 during 2009-10. In his sophomore campaign, he marked averages of 7.4 points and 4.4 rebounds. Flanigan dished out 22 assists in 2008-09, to go along with his 3.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest.

UW-La Crosse's Tony Mane and UW-Superior's Jake Smith shared the conference's Player of the Year honor. They were joined on the first team by Jarrel Harris, Louis Hurd and Nick Krull of UW-Stevens Point, Shane Manor and Jake Voeltz of UW-River Falls, Chris Davis of UW-Whitewater, Nick Allen of UW-Platteville and Eric Hostetter of UW-Stout.

A pair of players – Mane and UW-Whitewater's Phil Negri – were named the Max Sparger Scholar-Athletes. Jeff Berkhof picked up WIAC Coach of the Year for leading UW-River Falls to a 12-4 conference mark.
