Flanigan Announced As WIAC Player Of The Week

UW-Oshkosh forward John Flanigan (Jr. • Oshkosh) has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 17-23.

Flanigan averaged 23 points, seven rebounds and two assists per contest as UW-Oshkosh posted a 73-62 win over UW-La Crosse on Jan. 19 and suffered a 74-70 loss to defending NCAA Division III champion and 12th-ranked UW-Stevens Point on Jan. 22.

In UW-Oshkosh's victory over UW-La Crosse, Flanigan scored a career-high 26 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field and 8-of-12 shooting from the free-throw line. Flanigan also totaled nine rebounds and one assist during his 33 minutes of playing time.

In UW-Oshkosh's loss to UW-Stevens Point, Flanigan compiled 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. His 37 minutes of action included 9-of-15 shooting from the field and 2-of-3 shooting from the free-throw line.

Flanigan finished the two games with 46 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and two steals. He shot 62.1 percent (18-29) from the field and 66.7 percent (10-15) from the free-throw line.

Forward Bri Davis of UW-Superior was named the WIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
