Titans End Regular Season with Shutout Win

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Finishing with a winning record for the 11th consecutive season, the UW-Oshkosh Titans football squad posted a 61-0 victory over the Blugolds of UW-Eau Claire.

The win was the Titans third consecutive win over the Blugolds, and they have won 10 of the last 11 meetings. This is the first time the Titans have recorded back-to-back shutout wins since the 1976 season. 

The Titans had three touchdown runs over 35 yards or more and a touchdown reception of nearly 40 yards.

The Titans recorded 683 yards of offense (302 passing, 381 rushing) and recorded 31 first downs. The Titans offensive yards for their highest since 2011. 

Scoring Drives 

Kobe Berghammer put the Titans on the board after a 1-yard rush at the 8:38 mark of the first quarter for the Titans.

A 33-yard field goal by Nolan Mobley extended the Titans lead to 10 to end the first quarter.

Stephan Flores caught a 19-yard pass from Berghammer, ending a drive that included eight plays and 72 yards for a 17-0 lead over the Blugolds.

With time expiring at the end of the first half, Mobley put the ball through the uprights for a 20-0 lead at halftime.

The Titans received the ball to start the second half and made quick work on taking the ball down the field. Terrell Carey was the recipient of a 29-yard pass from Berghammer for the third touchdown of the game.

Taking to the ground, Berghammer found the end zone on a 39-yard run for a 33-0 lead.

Tony Steger caught a 39-yard pass from Berghammer, finding the end zone with 1:13 remaining in the third quarter.

All three of the Titans fourth quarter touchdowns came from the run game. Quentin Keene ran for an 11-yard touchdown with 10:10 on the clock. Doug Burson had a 61-yard touchdown run with 6:58 on the clock as Nate Smith added a 60-yard touchdown run with 1:37 remaining for the final score of the game. 

Checking out the Numbers

Berghammer was 18-of-25 on pass completions with three touchdowns in the contest and would lead the Titans in rushing yards (154) and two touchdowns.

Trae Tetzlaff led the Titans in receptions with eight receptions, averaging 17.1 yards per catch. With two catches each, Carey (54 total yards), Steger (46 total yards), and Flores (29 total yards) all recorded touchdown receptions.

Mobley made two field goals in the game, his longest a 33-yard attempt and made seven extra point attempts.

Jared Saad grabbed his second interception of the year for 10 yards as Brandon Kolgen recorded his first fumble recovery of the season.

Tory Jandrin led the Titans with eight tackles, including a tackle-for-loss and a QB hurry. Bryce Edwards was credited with six tackles and the Titans lone sack.

Defensively, the Titans had 75 tackles, four tackles-for-loss, one fumble recovery (for 27 yards), and one interception.
