Titans Shutout the Pointers

STEVENS POINT, Wis.—On a soggy day, the UW-Oshkosh Titans set two season records and broke a 27-year record as the Titans shutout the Pointers of UW-Stevens Point 45-0.

With the 45-0 win over the Pointers, the Titans mark the first shutout in the series in 27 years. The Titans recorded their last shutout victory in 1978. The last time a shutout happened between the teams was the 1994 and 1995 seasons, where the Titans were shutout by the Pointers. 

The Titans recorded a season-high 598 yards of total offense and a season-high rushing yards (446).

Scoring Drives

Peter MacCudden put the Titans on the board in the first quarter with a 5-yard run and the first touchdown of the day.

Tony Steger caught a 16-yard pass from Kobe Berghammer as the Titans took a 14-0 lead with 10:01 remaining in the second quarter.

After stopping the Pointers defense at the UWO 15-yard line, the Titans brought the ball to their own 39-yard line. DJ Stewart took the ball 61 yards for the touchdown with 6:42 left in the third quarter.

Berghammer punched in the fourth touchdown of the day, a 6-yard run with 2:56 remaining in the third quarter.

Terrell Carey caught a 50-yard pass from Berghammer with 13 seconds remaining in the third quarter as the Titans took a 35-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Trae Tetzlaff had the final touchdown reception of the day for the Titans, catching a 5-yard pass from Berghammer with 13:24 remaining in the fourth quarter.

An 18-yard field goal by Nolan Mobley would be the final points of the game, with 5:45 remaining in the game.

Titans Offensive Power

Three Titans recorded over 100 rushing yards led by Berghammer with 115 yards. Stewart recorded 111 yards, while MacCudden added 104 yards.

Steger led the Titans in receptions with five catches for 56 yards. Carey had two catches fo r53 yards, while Stephan Flores had 23 yards. The Pointers held the league's leading receiver Tetzlaff to two catches for 13 yards and one touchdown.

Berghammer was 12-of-26 on pass completions (152 yards) and one interception.

Checking Out the Numbers

Nolan Mobley had the Titans lone field goal attempt and split the extra points with Sam Kiesner as the Molbey and Kiesner were 6-of-6 on PAT's.

Eli Tranel recorded the Titans lone interception while Myles Laurent had eight kickoffs for a total of 407 yards.

Tory Jandrin and Kyle Dietzen led the defensive effort for the Titans, recorded seven tackles each.

Brandon Kolgen led the Titans with 1.5 sacks for seven yards and in tackles-for-loss with two (eight yards).  

The Titans defense recorded 76 tackles, three sacks, seven tackles-for-loss, and five pass breakups as they shut out the Pointers for the first time since 1978.

The Titans conclude the regular season, traveling to UW-Eau Claire on Nov. 12 for a 1:10 p.m. kickoff.
