Big Second Half Propels No. 24 Oshkosh Past Stout

OSHKOSH, Wis.—An explosive second half propelled the No. 24 UW-Oshkosh Titans football squad past the (RV) UW-Stout Blue Devils for a 19-14 homecoming victory. 

The Titans were held scoreless in the opening half and held the Blue Devils to a single scoring drive in the second quarter.

Returning from the halftime break, the Titans offense came out firing as Kobe Berghammer would throw a 49-yard pass to Trae Tetzlaff for a touchdown. The Titans offense continued to click, taking a 13-7 lead late in the third quarter.

Scoring Drives

Stout's Sean Borgerding connected with Arthur Cox on a 9-yard pass for the first score of the game in the second quarter.

Berghammer sent Tetzlaff down the field on a 49-yard pass for the first touchdown for the Titans, completing a 74-yard drive.

Berghammer and Tetzlaff found each other on a 79-yard pass for the Titans second touchdown of the day.

Stout's Chase Hughes scored on a 2-yard run in the opening minute of the fourth quarter.

DJ Stewart answered the Blue Devils touchdown quickly on a 94-yard kickoff return for the Titans third touchdown, sealing the win for the Titans.

Checking the Numbers

Berghammer and the Titans recorded 351 yards of offense. Berghammer was 12-of-20 in pass completions and led the Titans in rushing yards with 92 total yards. Berghammer averaged 11.1 yards per pass as compared to 6.1 yards per pass by Borgerding.

Tetzlaff led the Titans in receptions, catching the ball for 178 yards on six catches.

Nolan Mobley took over the kicking duties for the Titans, with three kickoffs for 192 yards and made the lone extra point for the Titans.

Defensively, Tory Jandrin led the Titans with 13 tackles and one tackle-for-loss. Carson Raddatz and Kyle Scharenbroch added 10 tackles a piece joining the Jandrin in double-digit tackles. Recording a season-high tackles, Titans recorded 96 tackles as a team. 

The Titans had five tackles-for-loss (8 yards), while recording two pass breakups.

Looking Ahead

The Titans will conclude action at home on Oct. 29 as the No. 9 UW-La Crosse Eagles visit J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
