No. 19/21 Titans Drop Road Battle to No. 3 Warhawks

WHITEWATER, Wis.-- It was a defensive battle under the lights as the No. 19/21 UW-Oshkosh Titans (3-3, 1-2 WIAC) dropped their second conference game to the No. 3/3 UW-Whitewater Warhawks (5-1, 3-0 WIAC), 17-3. 

Nolan Mobley made a 39-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for the Titans lone scoring drive of the game. 

Game Summary 

Both teams were forced to punt on their opening drives as the defenses tested the other. The Whitewater offense scored the opening touchdown in the first quarter. 

The Titans held the Warhawks to a field goal in the opening minute of the second quarter. The defenses battled it out in the second quarter with each quarterback throwing an interception in the quarter. 

The Warhawks took a 17-0 lead in the third quarter at 4:31 before the Titans and Warhawks would exchange punts. 

The Titans would score on the first drive of the fourth quarter, marching the ball down the field in 11 plays, covering 41 yards. 

Checking Out the Numbers 

The Titans and Warhawks recorded 14 first downs in the game, while the Titans had nine passing first downs. The Titans combined for 280 yards of offense, while holding Whitewater to 321. Oshkosh held Whitewater to their second-fewest yards of offense this season. 

The Titans won the passing game, recording 193 passing yards as compared to 156 yards by Whitewater. The Titans recorded 63 tackles in the game, four more than the Warhawks defense. 

Each team had five punts in the game and one interception. 

Kobe Berghammer led the Titans in rushing yards at 53, averaging 5.9 per carry. Four Titans were in double digits for reception yards as Trae Tetzlaff led the way with 84 yards (16.8 per reception). 

Mobley had four punts for a total of 98 yards, while Berghammer recorded 17 yards on one punt. 

Jared Saad recorded his first interception of the season and third of his career. The Titans have recorded five games with interceptions this season. 

Carson Raddatz led the team with 11 tackles followed by Tory Jandrin (9) and Kyle Scharenbroch (7). 

 

The Titans return to J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium for UW-Stout on Oct. 22. The Titans will kickoff against the Blue Devils at 1:35 p.m. as the Titans celebrate Homecoming.
