Nationally Ranked Titans Stun Pioneers

OSHKOSH, Wis.—All cylinders were firing for the No. 15/16 UW-Oshkosh Titans football squad cruised to a 46-7 victory over the UW-Platteville Pioneers.

On the opening kickoff, the Pioneers' Austin Guy fumbled the return as Jack Satori for the Titans recovered the ball on the Platteville 25-yard line. Kobe Berghammer needed one chance for the opening touchdown, connecting with Trae Tetzlaff on a 25-yard pass. A two-point conversion by the Titans gave the Titans an 8-0 lead.

The Titans defense came out hot, forcing a punt on the Pioneers opening drive. On the second full drive by the Pioneers, Bryce Edwards forced a fumble as Tory Jandrin recovered the ball for the Titans.

Berghammer and the Titan offense continued their pressure, scoring a touchdown on the first three drives. Berghammer grabbed a rushing touchdown on the second drive for the Titans before connecting with Tetzlaff for the second time on a deep pass with 8:36 remaining in the first quarter.

Tony Steger got in on the passing action, throwing a touchdown to Berghammer in the second quarter. The Titans offense tallied 278 passing yards, with 387 total offensive yards. On the final scoring drive of the first half, Berghammer connected with Steger as the Titans took a 36-0 lead at the break.

The Pioneer defense forced the Titans to punt on the opening drive of the third quarter.  Keeping the defensive pressure steady, the Titans forced a turnover on downs from the Pioneers offense on their opening drive.

Receiving the ball on the 50-yard line after the turnover on downs, the Titans marched the ball down to the endzone. Berghammer and Steger connected on a 9-yard pass.

The Pioneers scored their only touchdown of the day on a fumble from the Titans to start the fourth quarter of play.

A Nolan Mobley field goal would be the final scoring drive for the Titans in the fourth quarter.

The Titans recorded two interceptions from Caleb Noening and Thomas Klemme as the offense did not throw an interception. The Titans defense recorded three sacks (Buddy Barnett, Kardo Ali, and Brandon Kolgen) for 21 yards. The Titans defense collected 69 tackles, including nine for a loss.

The Titans (3-1, 1-0 WIAC) hit the road as conference action is slated to continue at UW-River Falls on October 8.
