Kasper To Play Professional Football In Germany

Brett Kasper, who completed his four-year UW-Oshkosh football career last fall, has signed a contract to play professionally for the Nürnberg Rams of the 16-team German Football League (GFL) 2.

The Rams are based in Nuremberg, Germany. The team compiled an 8-4 record in 2017 and averaged 43.8 points and 478.8 yards of offense per contest.

The Rams, who won GFL 2 Southern Division titles in 1987, 1989, 1991 and 1996, open their 2018 season at home against the Albershausen Crusaders on April 29. The team's 14-game schedule ends at home against the Montabaur Fighting Farmers on Sept. 9.

The original Nürnberg Rams club was formed in 1981 and renamed to the Noris Rams in 1987. The team played in the GFL 2 from 1983 to 1998, reaching the semifinal round of 1987 league playoffs for its greatest success. The team became defunct in 1998 but was reformed in 2007 as the Nürnberg Rams.

Kasper capped his record-breaking career in 2017 by being named the Gagliardi Trophy recipient as the most outstanding Division III football player.

Kasper was named the WIAC's Offensive Player of the Year for the second time in three seasons and became the first WIAC player to win both the Gagliardi Trophy and D3football.com Offensive Player of the Year awards.

Kasper, who finished the 2017 season ranked second in the country with a 189.6 passing efficiency rating, passed for 3,025 yards and a school-record 34 touchdowns during his senior year. He helped lead the Titans to their third straight trip to the NCAA postseason, including an appearance in the national championship game in 2016.

Kasper compiled a 40-6 career record as a starter en route to establishing program records with 9,786 passing yards and 89 touchdown passes, including a school-record six against North Central College (Ill.) this past season.
