Titans Host Cardinals In Second Round Of NCAA Championship

UW-Oshkosh will host North Central College (Ill.) in a clash of national top-10 teams during the second round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship on Saturday (Nov. 25). Kickoff is set for noon at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh (10-0), ranked third by D3football.com, advanced to the second round of the NCAA postseason with a 63-0 victory over Lakeland University (8-3) last Saturday (Nov. 18).

The Titans scored touchdowns on their first five possessions and created four Lakeland University turnovers. UW-Oshkosh, which owned a 42-0 lead at halftime, scored four touchdowns through the air, four touchdowns on the ground and one touchdown on an interception return.

Ninth-ranked North Central College (10-1) defeated sixth-ranked Saint John's University (Minn.) (9-2), 17-7, in the opening round.

The Cardinals controlled the ball for more than 36 minutes while holding Saint John's University without a third-down conversion in 10 attempts. North Central College held a 17-0 lead with 6:54 left in the game.

UW-Oshkosh is averaging 42 points per game while allowing 13.5 per contest. North Central College is scoring 39 points a game and ceding 17.1 per contest. The Titans have won 13 consecutive home games while the Cardinals have a 4-1 record on the road this season.

The Titans sport a 10-3 record in four Division III Championship appearances. The Titans, whose .769 in the NCAA postseason is third-best in the division, reached last year's national championship game after advancing to the semifinal round in 2012 and to the quarterfinal round in 2015.

The Cardinals, making their second straight trip to the NCAA second round, have a 12-9 record in 10 national tournament appearances. North Central College reached the semifinal round in 2013 and advanced to the third round in 2010.

UW-Oshkosh and North Central College will be meeting for the second time. The Cardinals defeated the Titans, 21-0, in 1930.

Ticket prices for Saturday's game are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens (55 or older) and $6 for students (K-12 & College). Children under the age of 5 will be admitted free.

The UW-Oshkosh Student Association will distribute 100 free tickets to UW-Oshkosh students. Tickets can be picked up from the UW-Oshkosh Athletics Office in Kolf Sports Center beginning at noon Monday (Nov. 20). UW-Oshkosh students must present a valid Titan ID Card to obtain a ticket.
